# 18 Man’s Remedy – Part 1

By Pastor Bill

Adam and EveIn Romans 3:23, we see that all of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. When Adam and Eve sinned, their eyes were opened and they knew that they were naked. I believe that they realized that they had sinned, and they attempted to cover up their sins. They sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. When the Lord approached them, they tried to hide from Him. He questioned them, asking who told them that they were naked, and had they eaten from the tree which He commanded them not to eat.

(Genesis 3:7, 11) “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings….{11} And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

Throughout all generations, people have tried to cover up for their sins. Like Adam and Eve, we have attempted to sew fig leaves together and cover up our nakedness. Our fallen short of the glory of Godattempts are no more successful than Adam’s attempt to hide his sin from God; they cannot hide our sins or our nakedness from God. Our sins fall short of the glory of God.

After God confronted Adam and Eve about their sin, He made garments of skin for them, and clothed them. In order to cover their sins, blood had to be shed. God sacrificed an innocent animal on their behalf to cover their sins, and He made a garment of skin for both Adam and Eve. This was a prophetic picture of what God would do in the future for all mankind. He was going to sacrifice the innocent blood of His own son, the Lamb of God, to cover our sins.

(Genesis 3:21)  “The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.”

At the time that John saw Jesus coming to him to be baptized, he said, behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).” Just as Adam and Eve needed a covering for their sins, all of us need a covering of skin for our sins.

Father, thank You for not leaving Adam and Eve, or us, in our sinful condition. Thank You for covering us with the blood of Your Son, and for forgiving us of our sins. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
